The City Health Office of Malolos reported 332 dengue cases from January to mid-April 2025, a sharp increase compared to 89 cases during the same period last year, affecting 46 barangays. Officials noted that dengue now occurs even outside the rainy season, as the Aedes aegypti mosquito reproduces quickly.
CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The City Health Office (CHO) reported a total of 332 dengue cases recorded from January to mid-April 2025, covering 46 out of 51 barangays in the city. The update was shared during the “Ask CHO” program aired on the Malolos City Roving Radio Station on April 22, 2025.
According to CHO representatives from the Environmental Health and Sanitation Division, the current number is significantly higher compared to the same period last year, which recorded 89 cases. The top affected barangays include Bulihan, Ligas, and Mojon, among others.
Health officials clarified that dengue cases are no longer limited to the rainy season, as infections are now being recorded as early as January. Residents were reminded that the Aedes aegypti mosquito can reproduce quickly, with eggs developing into adult mosquitoes in about seven days.
The CHO emphasized the importance of the “4S” strategy: search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, secure self-protection through protective clothing and repellents, seek early consultation, and support fogging activities when necessary. Officials noted that while fogging helps reduce adult mosquito populations, it is not a complete solution and must be paired with regular community clean-up efforts.
Free consultations, laboratory tests, and services remain available at the city’s Rural Health Units. As of the latest report, no dengue-related deaths have been recorded in Malolos.
The City Health Office continues to call for cooperation among barangays and residents to prevent further spread of dengue and keep communities safe.
